NV Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Rosé Champagne
96 points - Tyson Stelzer (The Champagne Guide)
“Rumbling power with delicate finesse, this is a rose of medium salmon hue, bursting with the exuberance and beguiling transparency of Ambonnay pinot noir. Fragrant rosebuds and wild strawberries open into glorious depth of black cherry fruits of exacting ripeness, cherry kernel, fig and mixed spice. Very fresh and focussed for its age, with a universe of complexity lingering very long, precise and lively amidst fine chalk mineral texture.”
95 points - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
"Rich and savoury, almost a cheese stick and vegemite flavour, along with ripe strawberry, rosehip perfume and salt crackers. Subtle fresh strawberry sweetness, fine silky bubbles, a real swell of flavour and power through the mouth, and a long dry saline finish, perfumed with that rosehip thing again. Chalky texture to close too, which is very lovely. Here’s a wine!"
94+ points - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“Based on the 2014 vintage and disgorged in July 2020, the latest release of Egly’s NV Brut Rosé Grand Cru is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of tangerine oil, crisp red berries, toasted almonds and white flowers—in other words, much as I described the 2013-base last year but with a touch more aromatic intensity. Full-bodied, vinous and enveloping, with superb depth at the core, racy acids and a pillowy mousse, it concludes with a long, penetrating finish. While it’s showing beautifully today, I’d love to revisit it with another year on cork.”
