Pierre Péters Cuvée de Reserve Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut NV

$99.00

“His Champagnes focus more prominently on refinement and harmony than on overt concentration… While they’re delicious in their youth, they are also excellent candidates for long ageing, developing a
wonderful complexity and depth over time.”

Critic Reviews & Scores

A 100% Grand Cru made from 100% Chardonnay, this is one of the best lesser known Champagnes available in Australia and one of the region’s smaller producers of high quality and distinction. The nose has fresh apple and pear fruits, hints of citrus, and fine, yeasty complexity. The palate’s precise and crisp, delivering fine citrus and apple fruits, gently savoury complexity and a chalky, focused finish. Forget the discounted big-house supermarket cannon fodder this year and step up to this quality Champagne, which delivers real value for money.
Nick Stock

Rodolphe Péters' extraordinary perpetual reserve of grand cru Chardonnay makes up 50% of this blend, coming into its own with the crispy, energetic, if rather uneven, 2021 base vintage as the other half. A beautiful toasted almond, fresh lemon syrup and floral honey nose flows into a palate where fruit and ageing characters meet in perfect harmony. There's all the follow-through and narrow, brisk energy of the Côte des Blancs here, chalky and tense, yet it melts into deeper notions of nut oil and sourdough bread with a silky, flowing mousse. Perfectly pitched.
93 Points Tom Hewson, Decanter

Firm and minerally up front, with well-honed acidity and notes of smoke, chalk and oyster shell transitioning as they're integrated with a creamy range of crunchy pear, ripe green apple, pink grapefruit pith and almond skin flavors, which expand through the midpalate and lightly spiced finish. Elegant, but with good complexity and focus throughout. Disgorged May 2023.
93 Points Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator

Based on the 2019 vintage (which Péters declares "the best of the decade") and disgorged this year, the NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Cuvée de Réserve bursts with aromas of crisp stone fruit, orange zest, freshly baked bread and beeswax. Medium-bodied, ample and pillowy, with a fleshy core of fruit, racy acids and a saline finish, it's animated by an attractive pinpoint mousse.
92 Points William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

Very fine bready lemon citrus aromas here; a restrained, fresh and attractively raw expression of chardonnay aromas. The palate unleashes more flamboyant fruit flavors, heading through citrus to nectarine and peach. The focus never wavers. Long, fine and pure.
92 Points James Suckling,

Open, effusive and a real delight to taste. Soaring aromatics and soft curves give this 2019-base Champagne tons of sheer appeal. Apricot, tangerine peel, spice and dried flowers abound in this racy, open-knit Champagne. The Cuvee de Reserve is rarely this charming at this stage. The slightly lower dosage of 5 grams per litre works so well.”
