A wine with such intensity, the layered palate brings notes of citrus to the fore with orange rinds and glacéd lemons. A fine line of grapefruity acidity, complemented by florals and pears, with mandarin on the finish. Wonderful stuff, a brilliant Chardonnay. It has the structure to last fifteen to twenty years if you really can hold on that long (and good luck with that).

This is a tighter and tenser wine than the Flower Day in the same series. Yet the power is evident immediately. On the nose immediately you are assailed with a wave of peach and nectarine stone fruit merging with a lemon curd richness. There’s a crunchy cracked seashell minerality that threads through the middle palate and emerges to sustain a long and penetrating finish. Just a beautiful wine.

Mid yellow colour, with reserved subtle candle-wax and lemon-pith aromas, glimpses of honeysuckle and citrus blossoms too, and a creamy yeast-lees overtone, while the palate is very intense and long, gorgeously fruit-sweet at the core, beautifully rounded and silky-textured. A wonderfully generous chardonnay of great richness and yet also refinement; ample, pillowy and with extremely long persistence. Miraculous wine.
