In bottle. A plot of one hectare half in each colour. A fine glowing crimson purple with an elegant and quite forceful fruit, red berries from cherry to raspberry. All destemmed. Charm on the palate right from the start with a balanced structure to finish. Drink from 2025-2028.

Here there is enough reduction to push the underlying fruit to the background. On the palate there is a bit more volume to the energetic and detailed medium weight flavors that conclude in a bitter pit fruit, rustic and sneaky long finale. This is very Chassagne in character and a wine that should drink well young while maturing over the next 5-ish years.
From the Producer:
”The Aligoté vines come from the commune of La Rochepot in the Hautes-Côtes. They are on average 40 years old, have high vines (2m) and have been cultivated/certified organically for almost 15 years. These are very stony and steep soils, facing South-West.”

About Morey Coffinet:
Founded in the late 1970s by Michel Morey (son of the late Marc Morey) and wife Fabienne (from the Pillot clan). Their son, Thibault took over the helm of the estate in 2009. Thibault joins a long lineage of winemakers in Chassagne-Montrachet with great gravitas in their family names such as Pillot, Morey, and Coffinet. In 2014, he began to pursue biodynamic viticulture, gaining certification in 2015. A solid foundation of 1er Crus come from the southeast-facing hillside; the whites reflect the very essence of Chassagne with fragrant aromatics framed around powerful minerality, while the reds hone-in on terroir revealing roasted, muscular aromas while displaying silky texture and balance.
