2007 Gotham Old Vine Reserve Shiraz - Cellared Selection

$65.00

93 points - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate
The 2007 Old Vine Shiraz is a blend of vineyards with vines ranging from 80-130 years old. 30% of the fruit came from Eden Valley, 25% from Greenock and 45% Nurioopta. Matured for 30 months in 100% new French oak, this wine presents a deep garnet-purple color and pronounced black cherry, blackberry, mint and mocha aromas plus faint hints of cedar and red blossoms.

Very full and rich with fantastically ripe, very finely grained medium to firm tannins, there’s enough crisp acid to give the wine freshness, remaining through the very long finish. Approachable now, this wine should cellar to 2018+.

Started in 2004 by husband and wife team Bruce Clugston (winemaker) and Fiona White, Gotham has since been consistently forging great value wines from well chosen vineyard sites offered at sometimes unbelievable price points for the quality. This ‘Old Vine’ trio is a case in point, punching well above their weight.
