2004 Giant Steps 'Harry's Monster' (Sexton) Cabernet Merlot
95 points Huon Hooke, The Real Review
Medium full red, slight purple. Some primary fruit on nose. Mulberry raspberry and blueberry suggestions. Soft mellowing fruit, lovely semi-devel flavours, and plenty of powdery tannin to bring up the rear. Seriously nice, semi-aged cabernet. Mild, elegant, smooth, balanced, medium to full bodied. Should go on for years. This has deliciousness!
94 points James Halliday
Rich and (by Yarra Valley standards) opulent; the skilful blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot and cabernet franc provides an array of black fruits without the slightest hint of green; good tannins and oak, not at all monstrous.
87 Wine Enthusiast
The Monster is approximately half Cabernet Sauvignon, with the rest a blend of Merlot (27%), Petit Verdot (12%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). Aromas and flavors are savory and slightly leathery, with a soft core of plum and cherry fruit, hints of cocoa and a long finish.
