A much lighter, more elegant wine than the whopper '01, this is a beautiful, subtle, cool-year cabernet full of rasbpberry, mint and cassis flavours – ripe, intense and complete. Cellaring: 15+ years."

"A fine-grained, more elegant and tightly knit cabernet than has been released under this label for some vintages, with a dusty, cedary fragrance of cassis, dark plums and dark chocolate over suggestions of black olives, dried herbs and capsicum. Surprisingly firm and structured, its long and grainy palate of dark plum, cassis and mulberry flavour finishes long, savoury and slightly herbal, supported by pleasing new oak and powdery tannin. Drink 2014-2022."

Ian Robertson, Wine Without Wank – Outstanding Quality
"Medium to full body, with a lovely black purple colour. Blackcurrant and cassis, very slight fresh herb and eucalypt on the nose. This is one of those wines that proves my point about always having two glasses of a wine I want to rate. My first glass, this wine was certainly in the VERY GOOD class. It had lovely freshness, solid black fruit, nice solid chewy tannins. But the second glass? Oh wow! It just grew and grew in my mouth. Its mouthfeel and tannin structure kept developing and developing... the length getting longer and longer... and the flavours rounder and rounder. By the end of the bottle, I was stunned. Man, what a wine!"

Ralph Kyte-Powell, Epicure Uncorked  ★★★★★
"A less plush Moss Wood than the wonderful '01, but still a Margaret River aristocrat. It has leafy blackcurrant and plum character with dusty notes of oak behind it. Intense black fruit flavours hint at capsicum, herbs and cedar, with medium body and persistent flavour, finishing long and fine. Needs time."

94 points Tyson Stelzer - Top 500 Wines 2005/2006
"Brambles, black and red currants, leaf and coffee are the defining characters of a tight and refined bouquet. The palate opens out into similar fruits with herbaceous, leafy undertones, fine, firm tannins and tight acidity. The French Oak plays a supporting role behind the fruit. This is a tightly-wound, black-currant-fruited cabernet of refinement and class. It may not be the greatest Moss Wood ever, but don't let that stop you! Excellent wine! Best drinking around 2010-2015."
