The Wine List & Menu

1st Course
Levant Chardonnay 2021, Our Price $27
A glimpse of a past when flavour was not servitude to structure. Scents of glazed quince, white peach, nectarine, nougatine and creamed cashew reverberate across a mid-weighted palate. A gentle gloss of vanillin oak and sourdough yeast, too. Dutifully fresh, but relaxed of feel, long of finish and ready to drink.
90 Points James Suckling, jamessuckling.com
Levantine Hill Chardonnay 2020, Our Price $59
Fragrant aromas of white flowers, white stone fruit, grilled nuts, melon skin, grapefruit pith and nougat. Rich, textured, layered and mouth-filling. Lashings of nectarine, creamy oak, sweet spice, melon and lively acidity. Long, sophisticated and very satisfying
95 Points Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
Levantine Katherine’s Paddock Chardonnay 2018, Our Price $106
96 Points Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
Light to mid-yellow colour, bright and youthful for its years, the bouquet reserved and savoury, again youthful with wheaty biscuit, stone-fruit and smoky reductive aromas, the palate refined and focused, with tremendous intensity and depth of palate flavour. Tightly composed, understated and long.
95 Points Huon Hooke, The Real Review
Levantine Hill Optume Chardonnay 2021 (New Release), Our Price $534
Combining volume, intensity and weight with focus, finesse and restraint, this enticing slowbuilding fuller-bodied Chardonnay is the meeting of an assemblage of individual strengths and personalities of multiple vineyard sites. It leads with an aromatic intensity of mandarin, pinelime, Aleppo pepper, fennel pollen, makrut leaf, chamomile, bread dough, spun sugar, crème anglaise and gun smoke with an undercurrent of grapefruit pith, shale and petrichor. The complex and textural palate delivers focus and precision with richness. Befitting a regionally representative wine of this ilk, the power of presence, flavour, drive and unfurling intensity resound with length and persistence.

Grilled Shark bay whiting, saffron tomatoes

2nd Course
Levant Pinot Noir 2021, Our Price $24
Bright cherry and raspberry fruit aromas rise to the fore with background hints of rosemary, lavender, rose petal and dark chocolate sitting above an underlying steely note. An intense entry onto the palate with fruit-forward red cherry, plum and rhubarb flavour. This Pinot Noir is well-framed, poised and structured with weighty fruit emboldened by a base of firm tannins and fine acidity. levantinehill.com.au
Levantine Hill Pinot Noir 2020, Our Price $59
Intense Pinosity is on display with lifted aromas of red cherries, raspberry evolving to darker fruits with sarsaparilla, Turkish delight and arrowroot biscuit. Savoury elements of nutmeg, tobacco leaf, alfalfa, shiitake mushroom broth and pork rind further complex the leading characters with a background shout-out from an underlying stemmy note...The wine confidently pushes through the full length of the palate to an expansive lingering finish. Ageing potential: 10+ years. Vegan friendly. levantinehill.com.au
Levantine Colleen’s Paddock Pinot Noir 2017, Our Price $168
The nose has a combination of red cherry, rhubarb and faint earth with an array of brown spice and undergrowth. The palate builds seamlessly and is underpinned by an elegance but generosity of cherry fruit; oak gives a sheath of spice and richness but is is really the subtle savoury influences that sets the wine apart. Tannins are fine and laced with black tea and bracken. The finish is long and complete and mirrors the fruit vs winemaker influence across the palate. A stunning wine

Mushroom and melted leek tart, fraiche

3rd Course
Levant Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 , Our Price $27
Levantine Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Our Price $59
The sort of fresh and toothsome mid-weighted wine that I could joust with any day. Luncheon claret sort of gear, boasting blackcurrant, mulberry leaf, green bean and graphite. Pencil shaving tannins, finely etched across a broad expanse of flavour. A smattering of garden herbs for lift. A gentle corset of oak and a juicy skein of freshness for restraint. Class and poise in spades. An early to mid-term drinking window, yet with no lack of finesse, flare or giddy drinkability. Really rather fine, even if this is not the top-tier of the range.
96 Points Ned Godwin, jamessuckling.com
Levantine Samantha’s Paddock Melange Traditionel 2016, Our Price $168
Gold Medal – London Wine Competition 2022
Medium purple colour with garnet edges. Redolent spice on first swirl of the glass: licorice, cloves, dried herbs and a bunchy pepper. Red and black berries with a briary seam. It's a luscious and juicier wine than the nose infers. Tannins are integrated and, with iron filings and tapenade, form part of its impressive structure. Red and black berry fruits wrapped within it. An excellent, aristocratic wine
97 Points Nick Butler, The Real Review
Levantine Hill Optume Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 (New Release), Our Price $709
The wine features brooding restrained fruit characters of cassis, bramble, blackberry leaf, sumac, tarragon and dark chocolate with complexing savoury elements of bergamot, bay leaf, sandalwood and leather. Suppleness on the palate combines with flavours of cranberry, smoked paprika, cocoa nib, hazelnut and cassia. The silky texture and juicy flavours intertwine on the poised youthful palate, rewarding repeat visits as the regal tannin layers accumulate on the finish with immense length and persistence.

4th Course
Levant Shiraz 2021, Our Price $27
Levantine Hill Syrah 2018, Our Price $59
Gold Medal – London Wine Competition 2022
Deep-ish ruby with a touch of purple in the rim and a complex and slightly funky bouquet that incorporates sulfides, humus, smoked charcuterie and assorted spices. The wine is fleshy and supple in the mouth, with gentle powdery tannins and an initial thread of bitterness that fades with repeated sips—as does the sulfide aroma. Definite whole-bunch influence. Silky mouth-feel. It's already drinking really well.
93 Points Huon Hooke, The Real Review
Levantine Melissa’s Paddock Syrah 2016, Our Price $168
Deep in colour, it offers a wonderfully complex bouquet of musky dried floral aromas, spices like mild pepper and cloves, foresty complexities, and a core of plum and berry fruit. Everything is in superb harmony and carried perfectly through the smooth, seamless, beautifully layered and lingering palate. The balance is superb and it has lovely flow through super-fine finishing tannins. Wow!
97 Points Ralph Kyte Powell, The Real Review
Levantine Hill Optume Shiraz 2019 (New Release), Our Price $709
Marrying density with finesse and restraint, this broodingly aromatic and refined Shiraz opens with a complex intensity, walking a tightrope between red and black fruits, loganberry, cranberry, plum compote, white pepper, clove, black limes, aniseed, olive tapenade, porcini broth, lucerne hay and bay leaf. The juicy slow-building palate delivers a graceful presence pushing through to a long echo of flavour and finely-pixelated tannin. A core of black fruits, blueberry and granite is wound tight and integrated so that no one element stands above the others.
