The Reviews…
Sperss Barolo DOP 2019, Our Price $903
A wine of stature and breeding, the 2019 Barolo Sperss is pure Serralunga power. Dark toned fruit, lavender, licorice, gravel and crushed rocks soar from the glass. There is plenty of the brooding intensity and tannic heft that are such signatures, but the 2019 is also wonderfully refined.

Conteisa Barolo DOP 2019, Our Price $823
The 2019 Barolo Conteisa is a noble wine, with angular and drying tannins, as well as more mineral expression. Notes of medicinal herbs, crushed stones, and pure cherry lead to a wine that is more restrained right now but will be fantastic. Through the palate, it has compact but wonderful concentration and a driving structure and is more herbaceous, savory, and mineral than fruity and floral. It is outstanding. Drink the 2020s while waiting for the 2019s.

Gaja ‘Costa Russi’ Barbaresco DOP 2020, Our Price $1349
The 2020 Barbaresco Costa Russi is a classy, polished wine. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, new leather, licorice and lavender all take shape. As always, Costa Russi is the most supple and charming of the Gaja Barbarescos in the early going. 2027 - 2050

Gaja Sori Tildin Barbaresco DOP 2020, Our Price $1490
Such wonderful clarity and perfume to this with strawberry and candied citrus, yet it’s always so subtle and vivid. Full-bodied and very powerful with lots of well integrated tannins. Makes you stand to attention and notice it. Give this six or seven years of bottle age. Try after 2030.
99 Points James Suckling
Gaja ‘Sori San Lorenzo’ Barbaresco DOP 2020, Our Price $1632
The aromas are like a bouquet of pink roses. So perfumed. Citrus. It also has subtle and pure aromas of strawberries, cherries and stone. Full-bodied but agile and floating on the palate with firm and chewy tannins at the end that remain balanced and fresh.
98 Points, James Suckling
About Angelo Gaja…
If I had to choose one word to describe Angelo Gaja, it would be “charismatic.” Angelo possesses a bold and powerful personality and conveys great passion and authority when he speaks.
Ironically, when first I met him more than 40 years ago, he struck me as quiet and shy. But as he learned English and started to travel to America on a regular basis, his confidence soared and he became empowered. More than that, he became obsessed—obsessed with convincing the American wine lover that Barbaresco wines deserve a place at the table among the classic wines of the world. Today, he can rest knowing that he has achieved that goal…
