These regions, nestled northeast of Adelaide, are synonymous with exceptional wines and rich viticultural history. The Barossa Valley is celebrated for its robust Shiraz, complex Cabernet Sauvignon, and flavourful Grenache, benefiting from diverse climates and varied altitudes that create ideal conditions for these varietals. The Eden Valley, often considered Barossa's cooler counterpart, adds elegance with its refined Rieslings and red wines. Together, these valleys epitomise the pinnacle of Australian viticulture, producing wines revered globally.

We're particularly excited about our latest arrivals from the Barossa and Eden Valleys, and we can't wait to share them with you! The rare and sought after selection of museum and cellared Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache wines from Henschke, Greenock Creek, Rockford, and Penfolds, including vintages from 1982 all the way thought to 2013. These renowned wineries need no introduction, but for your reference, we have provided some background information and context for each of them below. Additionally, we've compiled expert scores and reviews for all the wines featured in our collection and have just been listed on our online wine store.

As one of Australia’s oldest family-owned wineries, Henschke has been making wine for over 150 years in the Barossa’s Eden Valley. The Eden Valley region was established by Charles Crane in 1866 around the nearby North Para River system and is home to our most renowned Henschke vineyards, Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone. Henschke is resolute in its desire for complete integration of vineyard and winery, through six generations of family grapegrowing and winemaking tradition in the Eden Valley, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills.

Our name ‘Greenock Creek Vineyard & Cellars’ neatly captures our winemaking masterplan, which steadfastly adheres to the idea of ‘vineyard first, winery second’. Through each wine we craft, we aim to capture and promote the essence of regional and varietal character, and the distinct identity stamp of its vineyard source. The Barossa Valley is a special place. Ripened under the South Australian sun, the pure, powerful, succulent expression of our grapes – especially Shiraz – is renowned the world over. Established in 1984, the mission of Greenock Creek is to dig deeper into that place and unearth the alluring mysteries of diverse sites across the Barossa’s western edge. Everything has always been handled gently in tiny batches…. Grapes are handpicked, loaded into small open-top, poly-coated concrete fermenters. All lots are basked-pressed before going to oak… This pursuit famously won Greenock Creek an unmatched eight perfect 100–point scores from the prestigious Wine Advocate magazine. But our work is just beginning. With the 2018 arrival of Alex Peel as chief winemaker, we’ve sharpened our focus and responded to the land and seasons with a range of small but telling tweaks in the vineyard and cellar.

Some wine is sold through restaurants, and there are two retailers in Sydney, and one each in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Whether they will have the Basket Press Shiraz available is another matter; it is as scarce as Henschke Hill of Grace (but less expensive)." - James Halliday

Located in Tanunda, the beating heart of the Barossa, Rockford has been turning tastebuds since the 1980’s… Some decades ago, many wineries were family-run and smaller in size. Grape picking, crushing and processing was limited to manual methods that aren’t as common nowadays. Wine was sold directly to the hands of customers without organisational representation or an exportation agency. Unlike many wineries that have adopted various modern winemaking technology, the traditional approach is what helped Robert create the Rockford we know today - a premium example in the South Australian wine industry. It’s not considered complacency if it’s producing brilliant results each year, as perfection like Rockford doesn’t require change. -
"The success of Penfolds has been driven by the generations of visionaries and innovators. From the beginning in 1844 to today, the merging of science, art and innovation has driven Penfolds to become one of Australia's most famed and respected winemakers.
...In 1959 (while Schubert was perfecting his Grange experiment in secret), the tradition of ‘bin wines’ began. The first, a Shiraz wine with the grapes of the company’s own Barossa Valley vineyards was simply named after the storage area of the cellars where it is aged. And so Kalimna Bin 28 becomes the first official Penfolds Bin number wine.Since 1844, Penfolds has been grounded in experimentation, curiosity and uncompromising quality.
Our success has been driven by a lineage of visionary winemakers. The ‘SVS’ wines are typically available only at the cellar door and are produced in amounts of 100-300 cases and released after 6-8 years in bottle. These are extremely rare and almost all sold out online… we have limited quantities 1-2 bottles of each available on our online store.
